What is Noise? Who can really say. What is clear is that Ōtepoti has always been stacked with artists not afraid to push sonic boundaries. From "Alexa, play babbling brook" ambient styled forest dictaphone recordings through to harsh industrial plunderphonics, Dunedin noise has an international reputation that often sees artists developing cult audiences offshore before anyone knows anything domestically. To mark Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa 2023, otepotimusic.com curator Sean Norling has put together the Dunedin Noise 100 sampler - one hundred 21st century noise songs celebrating the racket.
